"And I Say That With My Wife's Full Approval..."

Just watch the clip and it will all make sense to you.

Am I happy that Robert Jr. here is Tony Stark?  Sure.  Does he look like a Tony Stark?  Sure.  Is it cool that Paltrow is in the movie?  Ok.  Does the armor look pretty damn sweet?  Hell ya.

Something tells me not to get too excited though but I can't put my finger on it.

Here's the behind the scenes video if you haven't seen it yet.

Some Stan Lee Great Moments in Comic History...

And while I am at defacing some some cherished comics, let me move our attention to some classic Silver Surfer comics that I have been reading.

These books, reread, are classics.  Just classic.  But of course, Stan was doing an early version of BMB and writing about 50 titles a month.  Scripting short comings like these were inevitable...

"Weapon of Weapons"?  That's the best he could do?  Well at least it's better than the Ultimate Nullifier.

A "life preserving silvery substance"?  See, you couldn't get away with this kind of writing anymore.  The writer would feel like he has to explain how it is scientifically life preserving and why it is silver and on and on, which would distract from the story.

This issue is a classic.  Amen to Stan Lee, even though I am ripping on his vagueness, his plotting and overall themes were tremendous.  For his time and ours.

These panels were taken from Silver Surfer #2, Vol. 1.

To read the Silver Surfer Origin take a gander at these Silver Surfer Classics!

Man of Steel?

I was a little disappointed in Superman in one of his latest efforts. I'm not judging though. Given the same situation I would do the same thing.

I know...can anything be more sacrilegious than Photoshoping and Illustrator-ing a Superman comic into this? I just couldn't let it go.

Apologies to DC in advance!

And God bless Power Girl. She is my "wonder woman".

This panel is taken from Superman #662.

The fifth show has been recorded and is ready for download or stream.

Great Daredevil Art!

Being a big fan of everything Daredevil I had to post these images from Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America (Wolverine).  Leinil Yu really knocks these shots out of the park.  DD hasn't looked this good since the Smith/Quesada run.  Wow, those were the days....

Anyway, click on these thumbnails for the big versions.

That last shot is my screen saver now by the way...

Me Geek, You Geek Internet Talk Show: Episode 4

The fourth show has been recorded and is ready for download or stream.

Bart and I talk Spider-Man 3 the movie, which has not made about 8 billion dollars. I haven't seen it yet so I ask the questions people would ask if they were wondering if they should go see it or not. Bart gives his review (a straight "C") and makes sure not to give away spoilers. So you can listen to it safely.

And yes, Episodes 3 and 4 came out pretty close together. This will not usually be the case, but since the internet was down in my area and all that. I'm catching up to say the least. Cut me some slack.

As always, let us know your thoughts and what you would like to hear us discuss for future shows.

The third show has been recorded and is ready for download or stream.

Bart and I talk DCP or for those of you who don't know what I am talking about, the "Digital Comics Preservation" movement. Others tend to just call it stealing. Here our our thoughts...

He-Man Movie!?

Bart is gonna crap his pants on this one...but hey, what the hell.

I'm excited to see a very muscular man with a blonde mullet, running around on screen either in a loin cloth or a pink shirt depending on if he "has the power" or not.

Hmm...maybe I should rethink this one.

Anyway, here's the story at AICN.

Come to think of it, there most likely isn't any way to make a He-Man movie cool. I mean the relaunched the comic book a couple years back and it sucked and we are used to mullets, muscular men in skimpy outfits and pink tights.

Sequart.org Up and Running...Learn Something!

I was recently sent a news release from Sequart.org, the guys behind Sequart.com.  I'll let the press release speak for itself...

An organization has been founded to study and promote comic books as a legitimate artform: Sequart Research & Literacy Organization.

"While comic books and graphic novels have increasingly been taken seriously in recent years," according to organization founder Julian Darius, "we still have a long way to go. To many people, comics are still silly kids' stuff or something that spurs hit movies. This organization intends to study the medium and make it accessible to new readers."

The organization maintains its extensive website, Sequart.org, and will be launching a line of books on comics later this month.

The organization, based in Edwardsville, Illinois, is the successor to Sequart.com a popular website devoted to the study of comic books. That site has been represented at several comic book conventions.

The organization's initial Board of Directors consists of Julian Darius, Mike Phillips, and Peter Bukalski.

So there you have it...go learn something about this great pastime of ours.

Side note:  There is also a link on their site to a great visual shipping list.

Fantastic Four: Rise In Your Pants

Sorry about the title...for shame. I definitely alludes to the picture above. But I meant rise in your pants because of the cool final trailer they released of the movie. Sicko.

If you're truly a geek (and you best be) you have to get excited about this final trailer from FF2. I know Spidey is kickin ass right now, but June 15th is right around the corner.

....Galactus is coming!

(By the way, the Invisible Woman up there? She's telling all us geeks to stay away. No doubt.)

If you are reading this in a RSS reader and the video does not come through, click here.

For a truly kick ass experience, check out Apple.com to see a hi res version of the final trailer.

And for a truly kick ass experience, actually go and read some classic FF comics....

Iron Man Movie Armor

I'm a couple days behind on this but I needed it to grace my pages anyway.

Will you look at that armor?  Damn.  Is this gonna be the coolest comic book movie ever?

To me it doesn't look that real though.  That must just be because we are all spoiled by Adi Granov Iron Man covers.  I mean look at this next pic...can you tell the difference?

I guess this means we should be extremely impressed by both the film costume AND Adi's art work.  Amazing.

Get some cool Adi Granov loot...

Batman and the Baking Soda Hijinks!

Technorati tags: ,

I forget which issue this is from, but it doesn't matter, you wouldn't want to read it anyway.  It's within the past 6 months for sure.

Have you seen a more ridiculous thing said by Batman before?

"Call this one hundred and one."

Ha...

Some Batman stories that don't suck...

Ultron: Lesbian or Marvel NC 17

Take your pick of titles for this post, I couldn't decide on either one.

So I just got around to reading The Mighty Avengers #2.  My review?  C+.  Nothing special and the continued usage of the thought bubble is really starting to annoy me.  The distraction from the story is too intense.

So apparently there's a new Ultron, one that looks like the Wasp.  One that is naked.  And one that looks nothing like the Ultrons that have come before.  Here a just a couple of glimpses at the new Ultron.

And for the real money shot...

Okay, so I ask you this.  How did this Ultron come to be?  I think it went something like this at a Marvel Writers Summit...

BENDIS: I'd really like to bring Ultron back.  That would be cool.

QUESADA: Whatever you say Brian.

BENDIS: Let's do another Avengers series.

QUESADA: Whatever you say Brian.

BENDIS: I'd like to make Ultron really tough.

QUESADA: Whatever you say Brian.

BENDIS: Who are we looking at to do the art?

QUESADA:  We're looking for series for Frank Cho to do.

BENDIS: Cho?  Really?  Okay, I've got it!  Ultron will be a naked chick!

QUESADA: Whatever you say Brian.

Now, I'm not above some T&A in my comics, but in an Avengers book?  This much of it?  Frank Cho draws a mean woman, I grant you that.  But do we need that many money shots in one issue?  Captain America is rolling over in his grave.

Also, how do you think the "cloud censors" are determined?  I mean, is there a limit on the number of non-nippled breasts that can be in a book before the "cloud censors" come out?

I don't know, the whole thing has got me confused.
